Skyrim PC advantages vs. console

Gaming In Entertainment: Even before Skyrim was released there seemed to be so much more hype regarding the PC version over consoles, as there was said to be a host of advantages. So now The Elder Scrolls V has been on the market for a little under three weeks, how does the formats compare now? It’s still easy to see the number of positives for the PC version of the game, but there’s no denying that sales are never going to outdo the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions.

one word telss you all you need to know on the matter "mods".

The much shorter load times on PC don't hurt either.

for those that can, why not get the best of both worlds - play Skyrim on the Xbox 360/PS3 then a second playthrough on a modded/enhanced PC version for an entirely different experience.

Worked a treat for me on Oblivion & Fallot 3 !

How is it the best of both worlds, buying 2 copies is a waste of money.

PS3 version is having frame rate issues. Xbox 360 version wont look any where close to the PC version niether will it support mods.

If you have a rig definetly get the PC version play it now, then play it again later when mods are out.

exactly!

I have a small prob tho......I sorta got Skyrim for ps3 for free when i never wanted it. i was originally going to wait 1 year for the goty edition on pc before i even played it.

but now i feel like i either let the game collect dust, trade it towards uncharted, or play it on ps3, then buy the goty edition when its like 20 bucks and there are tons of mods later.

hmmm

@tanir

The mods are already rolling out(there is already a HD pack in the works you can see it on the front page it looks great, the stock textures look blurry in comparison), I personally havent bought Skyrim because i wanted to play the game with mods, i am sure the game may be on a Steam discount this Christmas, i may pick it up from steam at the time.

I would personally advice to trade this in for Uncharted, get the PC version on a discount.

You can play on PC with a gamepad and even connected to a TV. PC is much better but requires a larger initial investment. Its not so bad since people tend to buy a PC every few years anyway, just add the cost of making it gaming worthy.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981160d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
