From hero to zero: A reflection on inFamous

NGR writer Joe Natalzia details his final moments with inFamous, and how the ending plot twist gave a whole new meaning to the game as a whole. Along with this, there is much talk regarding the direction of plotlines and how it affects the story in the end. Does the end justify the means?

i just don't get how you can think that there is no driving force in INFAMOUS 1.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG really.

and what's with this bioware stuff ..did bioware invent cutscènes dialogues ?

jnatalzia5412d ago

I was simply saying that the cutscenes were clips of people standing and talking to one another. If anything, it was more of a jab at Bioware than inFamous

Great article man. I felt the same way after playing infamous 1. Throughout the game I felt that I wasn't accomplishing much besides errands and taking out some bad guys and such, but towards the end you realize what is riding on cole's back and how its up to him to how the future unfolds. Infamous 2 was even better, better graphics better mechanics and powers, and involved story. The only gripe I have with Infamous 2 is the ending, I won't ruin it for anyone but I felt the ending a bit lacking and mysterious. Jeez I hope there is a third =p

That's more than fine. If you keep making one amazing quality game after another, with the low budget you've been utilising for games, then you'll continue to be extremly successful going forward. Don't take on a bigger load than you can handle comfortably.

Also, maybe it's time for a Sly Cooper game. No to Infamous, we've already got superhero games coming form Insomniac. Sorry Infamous fans but I want an open world Sly Cooper game.

Profchaos208d ago

Yotei is pretty incredible but I'd definitely love infamous to return to

Wise decision by a very stupid PlayStation management this gen.
Now let Bend go 1st party too and explore some more Oregon

andy85208d ago

Im baffled how theyve made a game of this quality on this budget when worse games spend 5x that

chrisx208d ago

You're very right. Take a look at assassins creed shadows...GOY blows that game in every single department. The facial animations are leagues above shadows and also the combat and general mechanics. While on a smaller budget

Elda208d ago

I'd rather have a new Infamous game than a Sly Cooper game.

Redemption-64208d ago

Naaaaa, I like sly, but infamous is what they should do if they want to go back

Some studios function better that way.

northpaws208d ago

That's fine, will keep playing Legend 2 until their next game. Can't wait.

S2Killinit207d ago

Whatever they are doing, keep doing it.

Have been watching vids of the game and my wife who doesn't play games, asked me why the baddies as she called them, don't seem to be fighting back much, like they're stood still. The AI is dire and this is yet another showcase game from Sony. Run about and explore with flash graphics. There's just no variety with Sony's games.
