EA Tea-bagging Activision

Ironstar: Quality over quantity or quantity over quality, take either philosophy and EA wins regardless. This E3 has been a pivotal step towards the future for all EA titles. The publisher has a ridiculous arsenal of killer apps, diverse titles sure to be on many of your pre-order lists. Let's give credit where it's due;...

Getting Infinity Ward was a big coup for EA

cmacdonald5833d ago

Maybe, but IW better learn from mistakes they made with MW2 because COD4 was better.

mrcash5833d ago

Yeah, cod4 was better, but that's not an easy game to top. Mw2 is still a great game, yes glitchy as hell but definitely a great game. The only people who seem to complain about it, are ps fanboys but actual mw fans love it, which is what counts.

Pumbli5833d ago

"The only people who seem to complain about it, are ps fanboys"

What? That makes no sense.

PC gamers complain about it the most and for fair reasons.

Actual MW fans that play on PC were backstabbed by IW with MW2, so I can clearly see why a CoD4 player could hate MW2.

I personally enjoyed MW2 a bit.

karl5833d ago

well, thats the thing.. if you are a MWfan you are not objective...

infamous-butcher5833d ago

Did I hear right, that 'IW' are working on MoH?

Inside_out5833d ago

Activision continues to show EA how to get it done. Activision releases COD every year...LOL...MW2 is killing every game made in sales. Just MW2 DLC has out sold every exclusive on PS3. It helps the game is AWESOME.

What about EA and there sports games that look the same every year....lol NOW, they want to charge you for demo's AND if you set up another account, you get to pay them $15 to play on line with a game you already have. EA is the biggest scam artists out there. That court case is just getting started with Respawn...lol...wouldn't surprise me the judge bans Respawn from making another shooter for 5 years for breach of contract, if they do, Activision will get 50% of the profits...wait and see.

duplissi5833d ago

its amazing what happens when a company is forced to fight to fix their reputation and to get our money.

just remember what ea was like in 04.....

HolyOrangeCows5833d ago

Then I would say "Nay to EA"
But today I say "Hooray for EA!"

TrailerParkSupervisr5833d ago (Edited 5833d ago )

But the MOH beta scares the crap outta me. When that trailer hit a couple weeks ago and it was all intense, showing the humanity of the soldier, I was super pumped for the game. Now, it looks like BC on MW maps.

Really, really hoping it gets a major overhaul before release.

ZootHornRollo5833d ago

IW cant code to help there own lifes. and ea kinda is already starting to fail pretty hard. using the same engine for two games. with skin change.

iw at least can code a fail game and then make it fail harder with each update.

Anon73495833d ago

I hate sports games(Rehashes hurrdurr) and I'm sick of generic FPS(BF:BC2, MoH, Bulletstorm, ect). The only good games out of EA recently were Mass Effect 1/2, Dragon Age, Dead Space and Mirror's Edge.

Then there is that new starwars MMO that bioware is making, which is going to suck. For starters bioware has no experience with the MMO genre, very little experience with multiplayer gaming in general and it's pretty much a WoW clone with lightsabers. It's only going to appeal to people who love starwars.

They should just leave the MMO industry to NCsoft.

BISHOP-BRASIL5833d ago

Don't forget music games, Rock Band is out every year, almost as crap as GH... Need For Speed, which went downhill after Underground and never recovered. There is also The Sims, before Sims 3 they had like 2 or 3 expansions per year, we'll have to wait and see if Sims 3 will be less of a ripoff... What about Move tie-ins? Harry Potter? LOTR, anyone? I think you got my point, they still suck on much beyond shooters and sports.

But despite their overused franchises, the rest has been good, specially for their EA Partners thing, many games that they publish but isn't produced by an EA studio are great games. Even some old EA stuff that IS oversused is ok, as C&C.

I would also consider Burnout Paradise, Dirt, Grid and Brutal Legend good games. Valve games too, although they don't shine on console (EA's job, if anything, were to point Valve in the right direction in those platforms) as they do in PC (Valve's field of expertise).

But if there is the bad and the good, they sure have the ugly too. They experiment on somethings that you catch yourself trying to figure out who was the mental that decided to give a green light to some games... Spore, The Saboteur, many Wii shovelware... those games simply didn't worked as everyone expected.

And overused or not... I wouldn't mind a Road Rash 4 (or 5, I don't know if people considered Jail Break as 4th or not, although 3D was actually the 4th game anyway).

omi25p5833d ago

bioware had no experience making rpgs before they started. now look at them, plus bulletstrom isnt a generic shooter and bf adds to the genre rather than copying it, it adds the whole tactical side of squads, destruction 2.0, good vehicle gameplay. moh and mw2 i feel are going to be identical

JD_Shadow5833d ago

Umm...you forget that Blizzard didn't exactly MAKE a MMO, either, before WoW! And I'm not certain, but isn't that SW game a sequel to another one?

@bishop-br: Criterion is making the new NFS (which puts that onto my radar), RB3 is going to be using a new note-chart system that could rejuvenate the rhythm game genre (and unlike GH, they've actually been trying out DIFFERENT things instead of doing the same thing every new game). And don't forget the EA Home space, which kind of set a lot of good things about Home into motion that we wouldn't be saying today if it wasn't for it. You're actually judging the games that EA had coming out before they pledged to turn their image around (and I would say they have done a damn good job at doing so).

To me, Dead Space and Mirror's Edge didn't only raise the bar and took everyone by surprise (especially Dead Space, which went under a LOT of radars), but also, in ME's case, took a chance at having a system whose luck wasn't exactly the best at the time be the lead development console. In short, if Sony is to end up taking over overall sales and leave the 360 in the dust, they will have EA to thank since it seems that EA has taken Sony's side in this console war, and has benefited from it immensely.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee105d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way
