Well that could be either a good thing or a bad thing. It works on dark souls since the gameplay is superb and based on your skill.
I found the souls games more tedious than difficult tbh ... just like any game with sparse save points.
Dark Souls is mistakenly considered difficult because of gameplay, when in faact it's difficult because it has a horrible checkpoint system. And you keep retracking and fighting enemies over and over agaian, which also gives the illusion that the game is lengthy.

So I guess this game will be a bit easier then. The first Payday must've got its difficulty from Demon's Souls and the first Payday was pretty hard (especially if you didn't have a good team). This one should be easier than the first Payday considering Demon's Souls is harder than Dark Souls.
