Yeah, I also interpreted it as cloud computering. Storm clouds and petaflops is pretty much a giveaway. Also, Microsoft would need thier own solution to compete with Sony and Gaikai. Now the question is how are they using it?
My assumption is that it will supplement backwards compatibility in the future and perhaps act as an additive at first, similiar to how Sony is using their cloud service. In the future perhaps more of the newer games will start to use the service though....
This is true, but at the same time some people can't get it in their head that if you actually get a decent gaming PC you aren't exactly screwed by this new console. I think that lead to a lot of the PC gaming is dying arguments we saw last gen.

That whole 32-bit argument is kind of reaching there. Most PC gamers have 64bit since 4GB of RAM used to be all the craze and a lot of people caught onto that limitation pretty quick especially since higher end games recommended 4GBs of RAM.
So, what's the new fad with RAM? Well, believe it or not 8GB has been the new craze on PC before the PS4 was announced. Wait, why is that? Well, DDR3 RAM is really damn cheap. To get like 8GB of RAM it's $60-$70 dollars.

Well the desktop version isn't exactly "slightly" better. Both AMD and Nvidia tend to tone down their mobile GPUs a bit compared to their counterparts and name them accordingly for marketing purposes. RE 5 was actually modded quite a bit like RE4. I made one of the first skins for the game:

It uses the same engine as Re5 (MT framework) for the most part, so things look pretty well. Modders for RE games have been awesome despite the lack of tools. I have seen some minor reskinning for the RE6 benchmark already.

Awesome, I also preordered this one. The modding community is also all set to tackle this one. I used to be a big part of the modding team back in the day with RE4. It's going to be interesting to see what they can do.
Well PC gamers install their games to their hard drives. Streaming speeds from the DVD drive or how many discs don't matter. Plus most of PC gamers are now on the digital bandwagon with services like Steam, so they don't even use discs in some cases.
The PS4 is going to be a great system and I think it deserves a bit more credit in terms of the specs. Devs will be able to program down to the metal and really optimize th hardware. Also, utilizing an APU is a nice plus along with 8GB of GDDR5.
BUT, to suggest that the absolute highend with a $1000 video card is somehow inferior to a PS4 is well just kind of reaching there. Yes, the RAM and APU is interesting, but individuals need to be more realistic here. I really hope we ...

Well it's not like this is some run of the mil cheap DLC game. Colonial Marines is priced at a full $60. Also, like the article states, gearbox showed some footage of a much better and seemingly more complete game in their past presentations. Gearbox only has themselves to blame for any of the hype it got before release, and Colonial Marines deserves every bit of the negative attention it has been getting.

I like his personality as well. He showed great enthusiasm for the project and the movie. If you go back to any of his presentations he really sounds like he is really into the whole thing, but I just can't believe how the demo footage was just so much better than the final game in terms of graphics, animations, and content. Some of those scenarios like the corridor being overwhelmed with aliens while you have this smart torrent there would have been awesome.
Yeah, MGS 1 and 2 were actually on PC. They weren't the best of ports, but they got the job done.

I am with you there as well Nitro and first. I have been waiting for this game for quite sometime. I am a huge fan of the alien universe and I have seen every movie including that pseudo prequel: Prometheus and my favorite movie of the franchise is Aliens.

From what I have seen from rumors they are so almost about equal. The Xbox supposedly has faster DDR3 RAM with ESRAM, while the PS4 has a bit more bandwidth with GDDR5 RAM.
(Note: GDDR5 in general has more bandwidth since it is meant for graphics memory and DDR3 has less latency for faster communication with the CPU.)
The CPU on the 360 is supposedly the same one in the PS4, an AMD 1.6GHz 8 core processor. For me the wild card could be the GPU. The RAM is nic...
