While I'm sure they miss Travis & Erich I think Marsh is going to do an awesome job as president of the company.
One of the best arpg's since Diablo, Diablo II and Fate. Runic have gone above and beyond here, and ended up making a big budget quality game on a smaller budget. The great thing is that it's only $20 (or cheaper on Steam) so it won't hurt your budget that much.
Max is the total opposite of the corporate/mega videogame publisher CEO stereotype. He's very in tune with the community, and he also cares a lot about equality. I'm lucky enough to have gotten to know him a little, and he's always posting stuff to his Facebook about how CEO's/greedy companies need to stop taking advantage of people.

The number one reason I became such a big Torchlight fan was because of the people, and it's the number one reason why I continue to support them. Having gotten to know some of them personally over the years that feeling has grown. These folks care about each other, and they sincerely care about making games that are fun in a way that doesn't take advantage of their customers.
What's interesting with Runic is that many of the folks on Runic's team have never worked in the games industry before. While Max (& his brother Erich before he ended up going off with former Pres. Travis Baldree to form their own company) has been at this for awhile a lot of his team were 'noobs' to the industry when they made Torchlight.

As much as I love Torchlight you really might as well get Torchlight II because aside from missing some of the lore from Torchlight( which you can look up) the gameplay in Torchlight II is worlds better than in the first game.
There are so many bugs due to Torchlight having been an indie game made in 11 months. Plus you'll have multiplayer.
