Best of luck to Microsoft in overturning this decision and teaching those Eurocrats a lesson
brilliant post Bloodmask, Sony has nobody but themselves to blame for where they are considering how they treated the consumer with absolute contempt and arrogance by offering a high priced system and lying about the performance of it with CG light and magic shows like Killzone 2 at E3 2005. Guess they found they can't just slap 'Playstation' on the side of anything and expect it will sell itself regardless of price or games
it must be too expensive to run the fab, though considering how important the cell is for the future of the PS3 (and in turn their whole company if it fails) they would be crazy to sell it
this looks like it's for the 80gb model more than anything, they received the submission on June 18th.
If Sony was bringing out a 40gb model they wouldnt of cut the 20gb, I just dont see how that makes sense unless a 40gb hard drive is somehow cheaper for them to buy than a 20gb
that was in one word probably one of the most impressive ads ever, that Diorama is a true work of art and to think it has actually been built by human hands is just amaazing
I too agree Pachter is an idiot who should be ignored.
I am not too sure about the 40gb SKU. I dont see how having a 40gb hard drive over a 60gb hard drive could warrant a whole $100 price drop, considering that Sony would buy these hard drives in large numbers and would pay far cheaper prices than the average consumer does for a hard drive so there is no way that Sony are saving $100 per unit to be able to justify a price drop just by switching the hard drive to a 40gb model.

from my experience, no PSN is not better than Live for lag and I have found most of my online experience on PSN to be on the whole of a lesser quality than Live. Trying to race F1 CE for instance has been a nightmare for me, Resistance overall is a better experience but still has some issues. Warhawk isnt released in Australia yet (the retail version that is), so I cannot comment about that, but I have heard of issues with the servers being down but I have also heard good things as well.
With the 360s sales beating the PS3s by such a large margin and with the 360s sales only to improve throughout the holiday season, no one can argue that the 360 is in the better position for 2007 and by the end of the holidays it will sell more consoles than the PS3.
Some people say 'just wait till 2008' or 'just wait for 2 months', but by then it might be too late, because it will be extremely hard for the PS3 to gain marketshare against the 360 and Wii, which are already wel...
great news for the 360 and an incredible response to the 360 price cut plus the release of Madden and Bioshock. I am sure that Sony are very envious right now, as their 'price drop' (aka price switch) did not drive up demand for the PS3 as much as they wanted, or needed. I do expect though that the PS3s sales will increase next month with the release of Heavenly Sword, IF they market the game well.
Everyone knows that things only are looking up for the 360 from now until the en...
some DLC would of been nice to flesh the game out a little more I reckon
Average face but nice body, she loves herself though by the looks of it. Also the American accent is a big minus
there has never really been any proof that the PS3 has been outselling the 360 overall in Europe except for Sony spin, only in certain countries (many of which are smaller European countries with populations no bigger than an American city) the PS3 has been selling well, but what is important to note is that when we do see 'European' numbers in Sony's favour, chances are they leave out the UK, which comprises 40%-50% of the European marketshare and which the 360 sells well. This has been point...
I think these are numbers that most people can be happy with. The 360 saw a marked increase on the back of Bioshock, Madden and a price drop, which I am very impressed with considering how small that price drop was, so we can see that the price drop was reasonably successful.
The PS3 lost ground this month, but it is still over 100k which is good considering its performance so far and you do have to take into account that it didn't have any major releases that month to compete ...
this is shaping up to be pretty good, looking forward to trying it out
amusing watching how jealous these fandroids are over the success of Halo, why do their ego's get in the way of respecting a game? I'm sure the Bungie guys would say good things about God of War, they dont deserve unprofessional comments like this
a game that I will probably purchase for my PSP, which has seen far more use as a platform for emulation than anything else
Yeah I enjoyed Shadowrun too and I still play it, there is quite a decent community of Australian and New Zealander players who play regularly and it is a game that has far more positives than negatives, sure there's only a few maps and game types but still the combat is deep and it definitely is a thinking mans shooter. Also of note is that Microsoft sold Shadowrun relatively cheap in our countries so it wasn't really a ripoff relative to what people were paying in the US.

whoever disagreed with me is a true scumbag with no heart btw
I'm not sure if the Playstation will 'fail' because of Home, just because the brand has lost considerable marketshare to Microsoft and Nintendo this generation does not mean that the PS3 could end up still being very profitable and still a success.
I think the idea of one console winning and the others 'losing' or 'failing' will be an outdated mode of thinking by the end of this generation
i like the overall design, its unique and the controller looks pretty awesome, but the majority of people arent too impressed with it so i wonder how they'll sell. They should of done it like the Halo 3 Zune imo
