Seriously though from what the vocal hardcore gamers have said, along with disappointed kinect purchasers I know, they hate the fact that it's taking off. They feel like MS is putting too much emphasis on this casual gaming peripheral and not enough on buying first party studios, making great exclusive games :/

It won't be obsolete for a good year at least. You need a phone to have one of those talked about quad core ARM processors AND the Tegra 2 3D chip for it to be at the PSP2's level hardware wise. Even then the fact that it's not a dedicated gaming machine means that it will still be underdeveloped for and there'll be better looking games on the PSP2 rather than any phone for the next 3 years at least. That's a very good battery life :D Specially considering the 3DS's is only 3 hours with 3D and brightness cranked all the way up.
'Settings'? You mean low screen brightness, 3G/bluetooth/wifi off? You can't tone down the games' graphics if that's what you mean.

Thing is we don't really know how much ram it will have - hasn't been officially confirmed yet. Plus the Desire HD is nowhere near as powerful as the PSP2 though. Quad core GPU and quad core CPU.
