The way overkill and there 505 games went about payday 2 on the consoles was completely embarrassing. I've never seen a dev promise updates every week for a year and half and nothing arrived, yeah for a whole year and half on last gen Xbox and PlayStation the console was left in limbo. There were also other things too along the way which really makes me think can they actually pull this big a game off.

That is why I think backwards compatibility is important to consoles because when games do come down in price gamers can now have more options other than physical releases where they can go back and purchase once expensive games that are a fraction of the cost.
Digital pricing is not competative and why because it's just developers releasing these games and not second hand shops and lots of different shops alm releasing the same game so prices eont be competative.
Eventually it will happen as the physical disc is a cost still, it costs for the discs,costs for someone to put the files onto disc, instruction books are a cost and so too are the game cases and while in bulk they do become cheaper they still cost and if it can all be cut out then developers will choose that path down the line.
