There have been a tonne of handheld ones on android, 3ds, psp, java phones (back in day) as well. The android ones are surprisingly sound

The Hunt is a Russian developed game by Orion Software.
Plant all the seeds dammit!
Nothing quite compares to it, but I really do have to recommend The Hunt to you. Its the closest I think anything has come to capturing it.
