When you have the best-selling gaming franchise of all-time (Mario), you tend to get attached to it.
The only genre they have mastered is the platformer. Other genres can still use some creativity and innovation.
I doubt the Vita will stick to 20K+ next week considering this Golden Week has been disappointing for it. The Wii U's currently in a worse position though.

The Wii U is doing worse because it's a home console but worldwide is doing (marginally) better than the Vita in sales.

The only people that 'flcok' to E3 are gaming journalists. People are going to get gaming news, flashy stage performances or otherwise.
They'd make more money by forcing people to buy the battery off them.
