Multiplayer games tend to be financial black holes. Even if the SP component is not compromised, there is always financial resources, maintenance and constant (costly) patches. All for a multiplayer that can't last past a year, if that. Rarely are they memorable.
I mean, remember BioShock 2 and Tomb Raider multiplayer? Yeah, me neither.
