I've never had any problems. It's more of less the same as retail non-steam games. Except instead of looking for say, RockstarGames/GTAIV, it's Steam/steamapps/common/GTAIV.

Are you even aware the settings those screenshots are taken from? For one it's being played in a client, the guy who posted the screens said there were hardly any graphics options as its pre-alpha and is missing so many of the effects and settings that will be in the full game. Even the console version of Battlefield 3 will look better than those. Any little COD kid who is still clinging onto hope that MW3 will look or be better than Battlefield 3 is an idiot.
FFS why are people thinking this is how the game will look, it's running in a fucking client for a start, it's clearly on low and even then there are plenty of effects missing, even the fucking console versions will look much better than this. Stop worrying.

Yeah as mentioned, entire conversions will take over a year. However we will see new weapons and maps within weeks.
Mod tools aren't released until tomorrow, and they are just beta. Also the map tools are in consideration to also be released.
