I have spent more time with Wasteland 2 than any other PC game this year. It would be at the top of my list.
If they just get rid of Uplay it would be a step in the right direction.
Mods are the primary difference in PC over console gaming to me. Skyrim with the proper mods looks significantly better than the release/console versions, user created levels and missions in many other games add lasting value.
The other difference to me is RTS games, which just don't work as well using a console controller, though I have hopes that the PS4 touchpad might make a difference one day. Halo Wars was probably the best attempt so far, but can't compare to th...
After Daggerfall, they released some very buggy games that weren't all that good. The Elder Scrolls Battlespire was really glitchy and the Elder Scrolls Redguard was a lot different than anything in the series, more linear, more action oriented.
Morrowind was what saved the company.
The biggest issue I remember with it was the collision detection. For instance you would fall into a hole if your head touched the hole, even if your feet were nowhere near it.
I enjoyed this years ago. I still have it but it is a 16 bit program, so will no longer load in 64 bit Windows 7.
It wasn't the motion sickness that got me, it was the induced headache within a couple minutes of wearing a VR headset. Granted, this was at SIGGRAPH 96, so they may have eliminated that issue by now.
I have some from last years Steam Winter sale that I still haven't played yet, and if I would have waited until this year's sale that just ended to buy them, I would have got them for even cheaper.
Smuggler's Run was the one of the two PS2 launch games that I picked up, and the one I played the most. I having been wanting something with similar game play for a long time.
I preferred when it started in June. By the time it ended last year my kids only had a couple weeks to play the new games before heading back to school.
I am guessing July 11th. They won't start it on the 4th - too many people will be on holiday so Valve would miss those sales.
One deciding factor for me is the cost of playing online. The PS4 requires PS+ where the Xbox requires Live. The differences in how those two services are implemented makes a huge difference to me.
There are 4 gamers in my family, and since Live Gold is per account, that is $240 a year to play online, where PS+ is tied to the machine so the other account holders can play online. That's $50 vs $240, quite a substantial amount.
Day one patch? You can bet the servers will melt down on launch day and beyond with everyone trying to download the patch.
One of my friends on Steam has not logged on in 168 days. I talked to her on Thursday night and she was playing Torchlight 2 offline on Steam.
Years ago Steam made you check in quite frequently. My son had an issue sitting on a ship in the Persian Gulf while in the Navy where Steam had to check in and he was unable to play his games for months, but that hasn't happened in a while. There is no way he would be able to do a 24 hour check in with the new X Box while on acti...
Thanks, I hadn't read that - I assumed it was going to be like XBox Live where it was per account, not per machine.
My problem with paying for PS+ is that there are four gamers in my family - that's and additional $200 a year for something we used to get for free, and one of the main reasons we went with the PS3 over the 360.
I know that bandwidth and running and maintaining servers is costly so I understand their reasons for the fee, but it is a pretty high cost for a family - half the price of a new PS4 every year in my case just so my family can game online.
The problem I have with charging for online is that there are four gamers in my family. If PS+ is required for each account, that just raised the cost by $200 a year for something we have always had for free on the PS3. That was one of the major reasons I was not interested in a 360.
I have already preordered a PS4, but I hope that they come out with some kind of family PS+ plan. Microsoft used to have one for the Xbox where you paid $100 and got 4 Live Gold accounts, but tha...
The thing that always set the PC apart to me was the ability to easily mod games. I have several Skyrim graphics mods installed, entire new levels created for many other games, and the ability to tweak a lot of gameplay parameters that you just can't do on a console. With Steam Workshop many mods are just a click away.
I have all the current gen consoles and enjoy playing them, but the ability to mod games is the thing I find most lacking so I will usually pick up the P...

Historically, the third iteration of a Microsoft product is when it really starts taking off. Internet Explorer 1 & 2 were fundamentally lacking features that Netscape had, but by the time IE3 was released they had evened the playing field, or even surpassed the competition, though bundling IE with Windows had a big influence in that.
The first Microsoft Word programs were feature poor compared to Word Perfect - Word for Windows 1.0 and 1.1 weren't very good (Word for...
I started gaming in 1982 with an Atari 800 and have never stopped. I am 56 and still play all kinds of games, mostly RPGs but many other genres as well. About the only thing I have noticed is that my reaction time may have slowed a little, but I don't play as many fast paced FPS these days, though I did finish Wolfenstein The New Order recently.
Someone earlier mentioned arthritis, maybe in jest, but I do have it in my left hand. So far it hasn't affected my gaming, b...
