There is nothing wrong with linear and yes, Final Fantasy X did prove that and now Final Fantasy VII Remake confirms that.

Final Fantasy XIII's problem is that it lacks personality, an interesting story, and compelling characters. Battle system wasn't too good either.

It would be nice if they would release Battle for Middle Earth RTS games. Since those aren't on Origin I'm not holding my breath though....

A remake of this game would be great. Hopefully a remake of Final Fantasy VI would retain the turn based battle system, it was perfect.

Also, the Final Fantasy VII remake will likely take several years since it's episodic. So hopefully a Final Fantasy VI remake would have graphics slightly better than the Final Fantasy XII remake. In order to drastically reduce development time.

As pseudo said "They acquire game studios dry them out". After a major purchase corporations want to see profits immediately. So endless sequels, less risk, and quality goes down as EA has never been a passion project developer.

As for how they got their money in the first place: Sports. EA made every sports game imaginable. Nascar, Madden, NCAA, NHL, NBA, Tiger Woods PGA, FIFA, etc (no way am I going to list them all). On top of that Hollywood video game deals fo...

A developer as large as EA always had "some" good games. Even I have some EA favorites however...

EA was "bad news" even in the early 2000's. They bled their franchises dry and tainted whatever they touched. They were never really that high quality even back then. They got their money by making every sports game imaginable, Sims, and games for any blockbuster hit such as Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. Basically make anything and crank them out as...

@ IamTylerDurden1
You're correct, I did forget about Anthem that came out six months ago... Seems more like a Destiny copycat than a RPG. My main point was that Bioware became monotonous and lost their edge.

In an unrelated note:
- Nothing wrong with an action-rpg (I loved Jade Empire!). I just don't like how we are moving farther and farther away from RPG and more towards FPS. Online games bring in far more money from micro-transactions which lik...

Agreed. Bioware is not in a good place since they have lost all creativity.

EA's impact was more of endless sequels. Bioware was once a company that continuously created new intellectual properties (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins). I would like to note that's six new games all considered classics within 9 years.

Since EA has bought them what has come out...
