In most games I would say yes. However, in competitive multiplayer there should always be an option for console players to switch off playing with PC players as in the case of Sea of Thieves. Obviously SoT Dev received a large number of complaints from the console community and so they introduced this option. It should be a compulsory option on any competitive multiplayer.
