Downloading PlayStation Home update atm. Does this mean that some features are already working?

Actually, that`s understandable. Sony is working hard at the moment to put up a secure PSN ASAP. They`re not waisting time with implementing some new features. That doesn`t mean there won`t be any new features in the future.
the point is, when PSN is up again, you don`t want to waste your time downloading this update while rest of us are already playing online. You can jump right in. After you change your password of course. :)
