Handhelds are dominant in Japan so this is no surprise. Bayonetta 2 will sell better in the US and Europe.
It depends on what games you're interested in. I got the X1 for Killer Instinct S2, Forza Horizon 2, and GTAV, and the Wii U for Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo exclusives.

I got Ridge Racer 7, Ridge Racer Vita, NFS Hot Pursuit, NFS Most Wanted, Pure, Crazy Taxi, and Motorstorm Apocalypse.

More like it was all part of the plan:
1. release it on the old gen first during the holidays for more money
2. release it again the following year on next gen for even more monies
3. THEN finally release it to us pc gamers during tax season for a little extra dough
