This november will be the 10th year of Halo- hence the Halo HD remake.
Seems kinda odd that this magazine would preempt Microsoft's announcement at e3. Despite it being a well-buzzed rumor, you'd think they'd have this locked down tighter.
My girlfriend just bought her own 360 and Reach. Told her to wait to play any of the Halo games until Halo 1 got remade so we can play through the whole series together.

Why not both? Obviously, A LOT of people are going to buy a new HALO game. That much is a given. But I also agree with you- I'd like to see a new IP in addition to the continuation of the HALO universe.
HALO is more than just games. There are novels, comics, animated films, and much more. It's definitely a cash cow for Microsoft, so of course they are going to continue to develop it, if people continue to but what they put out.
