I can see piracy being a major problem on an open system that's why Sony got rid of Linux.
IF the XB1 is going to be an open console for Dev it will only speed the return of DRM and 24hr check-ins.
MS will say they have no choice but to return the DRM features to stop piracy.

Xbox One unit can be converted to a debug console.
So all you would be developers will have to buy 2 consoles
Renting is OK just ask 360 owners about renting the MP part of games
