Because the smart thing to do for MS is to come out with a statement and kill the rumors right now. Instead of letting it grow and lay eggs till E3.
Seeing as they are not debunking the rumors, they must be true. Otherwise what could possibly be the point in letting these rumors run rampant unless you simply CANNOT deny the veracity of them.
