I am hoping the game allows you to choose whether to play in this Gem mode or not. Like Soul Calibur series- Whether the different weapons effects come into play or not by simply choosing Arcade or Extra/Special mode.
If there isnt a choice to select Gem mode or not then this is obviously another way to get people to pay for DLC gems. "Dont pay? Dont win". Of course that wont apply to everyone as I am sure there are plenty of highly skilled players out there who can...
