I don't have enough faith in EA games to pay them anything before I actually play the game. Their games usually sound cool but end up disappointing (sometimes unless I throw more money at dlc).

Even if you don't play PS4 for the single player experience, the fact that more people play the PS4 means it's more likely your friends will be playing mp games on PS4 rather than the Xbox one.

This sounds like one of those "it's the games fault" problem, when it's the individuals failure to control themselves. That's assuming whoever is petitioning isn't overreacting in the first place...
It's bad publicity for Sony, and it's healthy for sales (encouraging majority of market to stick to primary selling console that most players have in consoles). Until people start not buying Playstation games for the reason of lack of cross play or the bad publicity truly threatens the growing player base, Playstation will not see reason in allowing it. I personally would really like cross play.
Doing it ourselves give us more potential than them giving a set structure imo.
