I opened the comment box and realized ErcsYou, Logic and Gribble covered everything I wanted to say. Nothing more to add! :)
Ugh! Not one of these articles again. Do we now have to start taking the comments of murderous nut jobs seriously?
Fox news has been pushing this agenda for a while now, so no surprises there.
Do you mean day one or launch window? Project spark isn't out for the xbox one until Jan 2014, and that's a beta.

I am curious to see how this turns out. It definitely has lots of potential
Loved the trailer!! Looks like the developers had no idea they would get funded so quickly! 116K in just 2 days!
Man! Have you ever considered writing fiction? You have lots of potential!
As much as transparency is desirable, I think developers should be free to reveal information however they see fit. As long as they haven't already taken our money (read kickstarter projects), they have every right to keep everything under wraps.
Now does that cause a lot of pain for rabid fans? Sure! But that's our problem. Just because a celebrity has millions of fans does not mean said celebrity is responsible for the fans' unhappiness. :)
Any game can run at 1080p/60fps if the developer chooses to cut down on something else, such as lighting or visual effects. These are two different games with different priorities. I agree that they are competing for the racing fans' mindshare, but just quoting the fps means nothing!
Agreed! Though I imagine this to be a pretty complex task! RTL text support is a big deal. A few years in the middle east showed me what a pain it is to support it in every piece of software we make.
Props to Sony for deciding to implement it and the fans for making it happen. I'm really liking the recent trend of consumers making quite an impact on corporate policy and product direction!
@Godoftheweek
Haha! True. But nothing wrong with that either. A little competitive commentary is always entertaining. Also pushes everyone to make better games.
Erm... Nobody? GIFs are normally extracted from videos to give people a quick idea of how things look in motion. Moving screenshots, if you will.
GIFs have become the quickest way to share video highlights. All gaming communities are flooded with them
I know! Someone is late to the party! High quality version from here:

I thought this was part of bugbear's next game, called "Next Car Game". Or are you referring to the crazy car-crushing contraptions?
Source: http://nextcargame.com
Hope they raise enough money to make a next gen console version!
Always fun to watch cars get smashed in creative ways. But it seems like the wheels somehow make it through unscathed in most scenes. Coincidence? Or are the devs partial to the wheels? :)
@Kayant
Agreed. I don't think the upclock has anything to do with reaching performance parity. It's strange that they would even do something like that so close to release. Sounded like a PR stunt to placate fears of yield issues, more than anything else.
I think a lot of people do. These are expensive machines and any informed consumer would make choices based on which system would give more bang for the buck. If you were to buy a television and there are articles out there that tell you one television has better power consumption and crisper image, would you not be interested in at least reading the comparison, if not deciding based on it?
I think you are taking this out of context. Here is the actual quote:
"games we continue to show running on near-final hardware"
They are referring to the debug units/dev kits that are being used to show the games to the public. These obviously are not the final retail units, hence "near-final".
Having said that, MS is making itself increasingly vulnerable by commenting on performance comparisons, when they are clearly at ...
I'm pretty sure you can pick the time of day as well. That's how they released 4 videos of the same race at different times of the day from Gamescom. Also, they did confirm on facebook that there is a setting to accelerate the passage of time. The video tomorrow is going to be at 30x. If they allowed us to set it to something ridiculously high, I'd like to set it at 8640x just for kicks. :D
It is a compressed screengrab from a direct feed gameplay video and potentially compressed again when posted on Facebook. I think it's going to be glorious when we get hold of the direct feed video! :D
Perfect! Hope they release the video to gamersyde tomorrow as well.
The one we heard they wouldn't be streaming is the press conference on the 18th. They have a keynote on 19th as well. No idea if that's being streamed or if it's only the game focused stage events. Looks like I'm going to stay awake through 3 nights at least! Curse you Sony, for your endless string of events! :D
