Can't stand Jonathan Blow. Antichamber, on the other hand, looks hot as hell.
Reading the petition, seems like fairly obvious trolling...and successful, too, from the looks of it. "We, as consumers did not want nor need this reboot and we believe it violates our rights to have a choice between the original's or the reboot." Huh?
#1 was a little dumb, but I definitely agree with #3. In my opinion, the JRPG will always work best with sprites and text boxes; that's where the form shines, and Square has the resources to make some REALLY PRETTY sprites.
Yes, violents, you're definitely missing something (not sure why it won't let me reply directly to your second comment). It's a slideshow article; you're only seeing the first slide. It might be a browser issue, but suffice it to say there's a lot more to the article than you're seeing.
The games are broken down by month, sometimes exact dates are given, and short descriptions are provided of the major releases for each month. Are you sure you actually read the article?
Great article, and necessary to speak up. Shame the people who're perpetuating these myths will never read it.
I think the real cause for concern here isn't that it would be a waste of money; it would be who is conducting the study and how. People can twist evidence any way they want, really, and I'll bet you they find a correlation between violent video games and violent children (because if you love violence, of course you're going to be more likely to play a violent game). I just hope that the researchers are open-minded enough not to mistake correlation for causation.
Not really. Just quietly outraged. I suppose I'm of the opinion that the best way to support game development is to do so directly, as Humble Bundle has always done, rather than try to keep another publisher alive (even if THQ folds, it doesn't mean the creative people behind their games will disappear).
Yup, I posted my comment there as well.
"Ridged structure?" Really? I do agree about this model as a great alternative to traditional distributional channels, though I think THQ should have just made their own bundle instead of doing it through Humble Bundle, or Humble Bundle should have done more to clearly delineate this from their other services. It's creating some uncomfortably murky water.
I wrote an article on the same issue, and for some reason it's not doing well.
Curious why this is failing. Does nobody care about the state of indie gaming? Here's a snippet of what I've said elsewhere: The creative industry might survive by monopolizing, but it thrives by diversifying. I honestly think they (THQ) should just die. That is the nature of businesses, or at least it should be. They flare up, they turn a profit for a while, and then they die out. Otherwise, you have 3 companies owning everything and forcing abhorrent business practices on their subs...
Just awful. I liked the placeholder art. In fact, I didn't even realize it was placeholder art. It was much simpler and more stylish.
How is this only 40 degrees?
This game looks great! Added my alt source; now let's work together to get this approved and spread the plague...ahem, spread the news about this game.
Glad to be of service, then! ;)
You will learn that human noses contain a remarkable amount of blood.
I guess I can understand that. I suppose the fact that you can sit down and play a few tries at a level in less than a minute counts for a lot to some people.
I will never, ever understand the appeal of Angry Birds. Also, that was quite possibly the worst trailer I've ever seen. It didn't tell me anything about the three games in the "trilogy," as all those clips looked exactly the same, and they didn't even try to mix the sound effects or music into something exciting. Yawn.
How is this so hot? It seems self-evident, and a moot point regardless. Next-gen games will look great, whether or not they're Avatar-quality.
The score seemed low, but reading the review, this is about what I expected from the game, to be honest.
