I wasn't shocked to hear this, what I was shocked of was the release date for the game.

This probably has something to do with the announcement of FFXIII for the Xbox 360. They probably want to release both games at the same time on each console.

If they do charge for outfits and stuff, I doubt they'll charge a lot for it all.
They'll probably charge 80pts ($1.00) for a t-shirt or something.
Or they can release different "packs" of clothing for 200pts.
Either way, many people will complain. I'm sure people will spend money on the clothes also. People buy gamerpics and themes currently, why not a new outfit for their avatar?
The Xbox 360 had that functionality when it was launched in 2005. This update is only improving it.

I brought a 120GB harddrive on Thursday just because of this feature. Microsoft is going to be making a lot of money from this, I'm sure more and more people will get the 120GB hard drive.
It may take a little while to get used to it, but so far, I like the new dashboard interface.
The avatars I can do without, but those are most likely here to stay.

I'm hoping Dead Or Alive 5 will be announced, I'm pretty sure Itagaki mentioned it would be announced soon. But then again..
I'm sure he said it wasn't even in development and he wouldn't be able to work on it because of his departure from Team Ninja.

Bungie needs to remake Halo, just for the single player experience. Remake it completly, leave out online multiplayer (Halo 3 has that already) and focus on the singleplayer experience.
They could probably make the graphics better as well.

Yeah I gave up on FF a while ago, they removed turn-base from it and now it's so.. idk.. it's not the same.
That's why I love Lost Odyssey so much. The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery aren't turn based either, I'm hoping Star Ocean 4 will be turn based but since Square Enix is involved, I highly doubt it. That will be out in 2009, I doubt I can wait that long.
We need more turn-based RPG/JRPG's.
