I thought Crysis 2 was being optimized for the low-tech 360/PS3? Hopefully they offer PC gamers something promising by holding out. PS, Crysis is over three years old and neither PS3 or 360 could handle it which is why the sequel is being dumbed down (mostly so people BUY it instead of pirating it)

It's pointless to battle it out without new hardware to show for it. The Wii may have been crap from a technical standpoint but at least Nintendo re-designed the gamecube before they resold it overclocked.
Here is the thing, Microsoft (especially MS since they spent 500 mil) and Sony are fighting over a spent market that already has a Wii and the next big thing is not a console.... It's a phone. Seriously, I really doubt Nintendo considers MS or Sony serious competit...
I think the video game industry is all about learning from mistakes. Nintendo peed off their 3rd parties back in the 90s then released a cartridge-based console. They responded by not supporting the n64 and Nintendo had to fall back on their own stuff except there wasn't a lot of it on n64. They looked to rare for that and rare just didn't make the quality titles they were expected to. The people that did left rare for other companies. They tried to kiss and make up with the gamecube...

I'm skeptical because it goes against Nintendo's philosophy of getting by with established hardware in order to make money off it. I hope it's true, but I have my doubts. The 3DS has less impressive graphics than my iphone but maybe the 3D will make up for that. Now I read the 3D tech is available on a Samsung phone which leads me to believe it will be everywhere and the device won't be as special.
