I would definitely want a study to see the extent of the problem. Making a claim like "causing gamers to..." is vague all on its own. How many gamers, is my question. If it is a widespread problem, then that claim would have more validity to it. Perhaps the author should have put it the same way you did. If he did, I would not have questioned him.
I would have liked to read more of the author's thoughts about this; the article was too short IMO.
"Why is it that elements such as Trophies and Achievements are causing gamers to buy cheap games that we normally would never touch in a million years?"
Need a source cited for this; that's a VERY bold claim. As a professor, he should know that making claims like this without something to back it up weaken his argument. And, as a professor of game design, he SHOULD know that games are much more than their trophies.
"And then you go the further step, and that’s the movies. You see these movies, and they’re so violent, and yet a kid is able to see the movie if sex isn’t involved, but killing is involved, and maybe they have to put a rating system for that.”
There is a rating system for that. It's called the MPAA.
Would love for this L4D3 rumor to be true.
"As you can see Raychul is a stunner. Check out some more pics."
"No question, she is gorgeous and someone worth following on her social network feeds."
"As you can see, it is quite obvious why she is one of the best cosplayers in the industry. Check out more of her work:"
"Be sure to follow her and thanks for checking out another cosplay feature."
My god...and this passes for j...
