I would prefer a google chat/hangout support.
Faith in humanity restored! :) You all whiny developers, take notice:
1) you don't need a huge budget to create an awesome game
2) even without super realistic graphics a game can be highly addictive, fun and commercially successful
3) stop worrying about piracy, it's irrelevant, if your game is good enough, if you trust gamers and don't apriori treat them as thieves, gamers will repay you
4) originality pays off
"Sure it matters, if only to those who will now have to buy multiple copies for multiple consoles within their home. "
I don't believe for a second MS would allow those 10 "family" people you shared the game with to play it at the same time so in your specific example it doesn't make any difference whether digital or disk.
edit: @matgrowcott: two friends at the same time already seems believable.
I actually like the cover, it's unique, whimsical and arty... much better that those kitschy cheesy covers aimed at wanna be macho teenagers. :-D
They were not much better with Sony last gen, IMO. I enjoyed R&C ToD, Quest for Booty was mediocre and Resistance 2 was the most generic and boring FPS I ever played. I couldn't remember anything of the story two weeks after finishing it.
I never preorder anything but my first next gen console will be Wii U followed by PS4 as soon as it has a couple of good 1st party exclusives (Killzone or Infamous don't appeal to me). I definitely won't get an Xbox One - I don't like Microsoft and judging by Xbox 360 games there won't be any decent exlusives for me. I have a gaming PC where I play multiplatforms in their best versions so I won't miss much if I wait a bit till the Last Guardian or a new game by Naughty Dog...
I'm getting a Wii U as soon as there are at least 4 good exlusives. Hopefully Super Mario, Pikmin, Donkey Kong and Wind Waker remake are out by the end of the year.
XB1 will have troubles to sell well in Europe let alone in Japan, it will flop harder there than 360.
Agreed, that's why I'm buying Wii U as my first next gen console this holiday. By end of the year it's going to have awesome creative games for people whose imagination is not dead. I don't care much for dumb shooters and photorealistic graphics without a story and some artistic value. I bought my PS3 at the EU launch but I think I'm going to wait a bit more this time - so far the only games I liked are Knack and the Witness. Hopefully the Last Guardian and a new game by M...
"The current model of this generation isn't working and countless studios are closing" Did it occur to you that they may be forced to close because their products or marketing or strategic decisions are not good enough? Do you think the video games industry is the only place where companies go bankrupt?
1. A September/October release date would be another blow for the xbone. Lots of undecided impatient gamers would rush to buy PS4.
2. the Last Guardian
3. buy Atlus and announce an exclusive Persona 5
4. a new IP from Naughty dog, an RPG ideally. I love Uncharted but the franchise needs a break. Or give Uncharted a new direction - an open world game set in the age of exploration.
5. Warhawk 2
6. Eye of Judgement 2 :)
7. An attractive Vita...
Sure, MS are a charity and are going to setup those alleged 300,000 servers (only virtual but pssst) and not expecting any profit from it.
Yes, of course the cloud! In particular in 5-6 years when MS turns the servers off and you're left with a nice black brick that only plays movies and what's left of your games is nostalgia at best.
@Septic: most of the games will be on PC as well that's where I play all multiplatform games. I respect Forza but I'm not into driving sims and I was not impressed by Ryse - looks cheesy. Dead Rising is an average franchise and I doubt it's really an exclusive. Project Spark was the only game that seemed great to me.
You fear while I hope. :) PS4 is the right platform for an ambitious masterpiece like the Last Guardian if it's released within the first six months after the PS4 launch.
Limited like the WiiU at launch. Xbone is going to flop really bad.
Not sure about the US but I have no doubt PS4 will sell better than xbone in the UK.
According to the "Best Sellers in PC & Video Games" statistics on amazon.co.uk PS4 is 12th before Xbox one (on 18th place):

I quite like the current gen, it's brought lots of great new IPs: LBP, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Uncharted, Portal. What I don't like though:
1) no game from team ico this gen
2) no new Persona this gen
3) too many dumb shooters
4) too few RPGs
@justastranger10: so if someone buys you an amazon voucher you are thankful to amazon for allowing it? :-D
