Instead of focusing on their product and making sure they did even better than the original XBox, they proceeded to attack Sony verbally with every chance they got. I may not like their tactics but I commend them for pushing Sony much harder with the PS3 and securing games that could have stayed exclusively on the PS3.
No one can deny they did a better job than the original XBox in terms of software.

Microsoft are the ones who turned this into a contest. Then 360 fans piled on. And then PS3 fans piled on as well and this became a huge war.
