Retailers only makes anywhere from 2% to 10% of Video Games sales. Those 10% are rare too, only high profile games that they buy in huge bulks, like Call of Duty.
It's the reason why Game stores and retailers push forward used games as the margins are anywhere from 20% to 50%.
If a game is the same price as the physical copy, you're right, they may not buy it unless their sure about their purchase and won't regret it later.
You'd think they would have produced more to get to as many stores as possible.
Low production = Low sales.

What would make people buy an Xbox One?
First of all, it needs to seperate itself from Microsoft.
Microsoft keeps on doing bad decisions (Timed exclusives, or buying Mojang?) is not what would make people buy an Xbox.
They need to change their attitude first, and the only way to accomplish that is for the Xbox brand to free itself from Microsoft.

Curved TVs are gimmicks, the size they advertise is actually shrunk down because it's curved, but they charge you extra for it.
