If you read the article:
It says that the Xbox Smart Glass was Xbox's answer to the Wii U.
Sony offers more option with their App than what the Xbox Smart Glass does.
However, it wasn't always the case.
It fact, you could send messages with the Xbox SG while that wasn't an option the first time with the PS App.
But now, PS App has more options and it's in the lead. ...
This looks promising.
The PS4 never pre-ordered as much, or sold ever in it's first week in it's history and the last champion was the PS2 with 1.5 Million the first week and the PS4 is already beating that.

It can't be the TV since it uses HDMI and it's really fast.
My guess is it's that it's plugged into another AV Receiver box, then outputs back to the TV.
That's the only possible way it could be the TV.
If it was connected directly, then it has something to do with the game or the console beta OS.
I doubt it'll be like this by the time it arrives on store shelves.
