Those people need their heads examined. I can easily pick up components that would destroy any game for about $1500 with a bit of splurge.
Edit: You don't need an i7, Get an i5 2500k and overclock it to 4-4.2Ghz. Ram is cheap. Get a super nice GFX card and overclock that too. Buy two SSD's for raid use and 1TB drive for storage. Everything else is peanuts.

Yeah, no, Killzone 3 would look good, but put up a fight? Not really. The resolution would simply crush it. Keep in mind some people might run the game in multi-monitor setups as well. I'm not denying that KZ3 doesn't look spectacular but it's just silly to compare it to BF3.
The thing is, Killzone isn't BF's competition. See my fruit example above.
Is the game running on maxed out DX11 settings? Ask yourself that.
