It doesn’t make sense to buy consoles at these prices. We’re already six years into the current generation, prices should have dropped to around $300–$400 by now. Instead, they’re still priced like brand new next-gen hardware.
It’s not that Gen Z isn’t interested in AAA or story driven games, a lot of them simply don’t have the financial freedom to explore. When you’re budgeting, you stick to games that give the most value for the least cost, which is why ecosystems like Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft dominate. What looks like a preference is often just economic constraint.
This feels like a bad move by Sony. The economy isn’t strong enough for most people to justify owning both a PC and a PlayStation. I’ve gotten used to playing on PC with a controller anyway. It’s a bit disappointing, but I’m not going back to consoles unless the economy improves significantly.
oh no, those cartoonish graphics....it is like plague.
Economy sucks, nothing more to say.
oof, embarrassment of modern gaming.
Who cares if they are AI generated. It is not like there is anything wrong with them.
It’s not just about Steam’s size, its monopoly comes from people wanting a single, convenient platform. Most of us don’t want ten different launchers to play games, just like we don’t want five streaming apps. I used to have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, but I got tired of all the clutter and canceled most of them. The same thing happens with gaming.
Real competition will only exist when platforms let you transfer your game library freely, so you can actually choose where to st...
What AI will be doing at the beginning is cutting jobs, 1 developer will be able to do what 10 developers did etc and eventually no developer is needed.
Players who focus on multiplayer usually stick to one or two popular games, while single-player fans tend to buy many different titles. That’s why only a few companies succeed with multiplayer, but plenty can thrive with single-player games.
Nah, Star Wars Outlaws is trash. Only Pepegas would play that game.
meh, multiplayer, boring.
You’re right, right now barely anyone cares about gaming with how things are going. But if things normalize and people can actually afford stuff again, the smarter investment is definitely a PC. Most of my friends used to buy both a PC and a PlayStation, but honestly I can’t even imagine a household without a PC these days, at least here in Europe.
Why buy PS5 if you can just play all the exclusives on PC lol
Good.
I used to buy PlayStation mainly for the exclusives. The Xbox 360 showed what happens when you don’t care about exclusives, it basically set up the PS4’s success, because everyone knew Microsoft wasn’t competing in that area. I was planning to wait a PS5 pro but then Sony started releasing its exclusives on PC. That’s when I changed my mind, grabbed an Xbox controller for my PC instead, and said bye to console life. Do not know a single friend whose primary motivator to buy PlayStation brand ...
One issue lately is that certain vocal groups try to dictate how things should look in video games, and if artists don’t comply, these groups can become hostile, sometimes publishing negative articles or even making unfounded accusations against the creators. This kind of pressure can discourage genuine artistic expression.
Ugh, I’m so tired of multiplayer. Feels like every game these days is chasing it. I really miss the days when developers put all their focus into great single-player experiences.
Nintendo sucks, Nintendo can now brick your hardware at will. Like WTF.
There are way too many live service games. Most players don’t have time to juggle several, so they end up committing to one, usually the most popular one. I don’t understand why so many companies keep chasing this model when the market clearly only sustains a handful of winners.
