Well Bioware RPGs are dead. They are whoring themselves out in the action/shooter genre now.
Bethesdas RPGs are going as strong as ever. Well, minus a tad dumbing down here and there (but they do make up for it in other areas).
So I guess blank slate sandbox RPGs are still going strong, but Bioware-styled story-dialogue-character driven games with strong tactical roots are already dead. ME2 and DA2 gave the unswerving indication that dumbed-down-to-fuck comba...
Oh look another "professional video game journalist". (read: text based ad-banner who takes money from publishers to write over-the-top bullshit praise about their game.)
Yeah, and while youre at it post it here to, as its pretty much the reaction to the metacritic reaction.
"wah, wah! people are angry and downvoting my favourite devs new game! wah, wah!"
Been saying this ever since they shat out that dumbed down turd that was ME2, wasting my time on cover shooting instead of being Mass Effect.
The doomsayers were right.
I guess that means ME3 will just rehash ME2 and its constant waves of linear shooter missions, with just as shit a story and an all new cast of expendable "badass" characters, but with multiplayer shoehorned in this time.
Seems like Bioware just doesnt want my purcha...
Yeah, they should. Since the majority of ME2 is a waste of time in terms of the overall trilogy, if they have access to a PC or Xbox 360, they should.
ME2 basically resets and restates everything, but with worse writing, a disposable "side mission" based plot, and an overbearing focus on shooter combat.
It ends on EXACTLY the same note as ME1, only much, much more badly presented.
ME1 is the flesh of the trilogy so far, the core of ...
Two words: F*ck. Off.
Enough time, resources and effort has been wasted trying to turn this game into something brainless shooter parasites will enjoy.
How about designing ME3 around the concept the game started with.
You know, the one that wasnt about fucking dumbed down, visceral shooter combat, but about an intense, deep space opera.
Put aside your greed please, and give this series a send off it deserves. Maybe then it mi...
"Bioware revolutionized the game industry, not only by allowing multiple choices for each situation, but by allowing these choices to vastly influence the rest of the franchise."
Who writes this crud, honestly? I really hope Bioware are ashamed when they see video game journalists write trash like that. It in no way whatsoever actually reflects the reality of choice and effect in the ME series so far.
Choices are shown to impact the universe in two ...
ME2 is worse in every single way over ME1 bar graphics and shooter elements.
Worse story.
Worse dialogue.
Worse RPG elements.
Ripped out exploration.
Worse characters who have no impact on the story whatsoever.
Fundamentally, ME2 was a dumbed down game designed for idiots, so if you find yourself liking it, Im afraid that raises questions over your brain power.
ME1 actually tried a number of things.

I agree with this article. Im really getting sick of Biowares bullshit marketing lately. Since ME2 its about about "TEH HUMIES!" Newsflash Bioware: I dont play your game because I give a shit about humanity. If Earth is a major plot point, then it better be damn sure nearly everything else takes place away from it. Im really getting sick of this pathetic "save humanity" vibe replacing the "save the galaxy" vibe of the first game. That the second games plot was ab...
Reading all the PS3 whiners comments on this thread are hilarious.
The irony, with their comments, they are reinforcing the view that THEY hated this game until it was PS3. If they didnt, they would have known complaints like the ones in this (very good) article have been spoken by certain fans since release day.
The truth is, not everyone was happy with ME2, and this article sums up many of those views very well.
So shut up you whiny PS3 fan...
I started to feel this way late into the marketing for ME2 where Bioware were saying "Come and play our game MW2 and GoW players! Youll love it!"
As a long time RPG player and Bioware fan, I wanted them to shut the hell up about the shooter aspects.
Then I played the game and realised they couldnt, since there wasnt much more to the game but the shooter aspects.
They took an earnest but flawed attempt at a hybrid and turned it into ...
Yeah, RE: ME2, you and me both. Bad story, bad characters, and dumbed down gameplay topped off with poor carryover from ME1 made it one of the biggest disappointments Ive ever had with video games.
The changes in ME2 made it into a dumbed down, shallow TPS.
If they are going for such a hud, I hope its not an indicator of yet more shitty elements without any depth to them.
Despite what all the fucktards say about ME2 and its perfection, anyone with half a brain can see that 90% of the game consisted of nothing but moving through linear, box filled corridors using bogstandard TPS combat.
Thats not what Mass Effect is about, and anyone who...
