While I do agree for the most part,
developing for the iphone (and ipad) is incredibly easy compared to the ds/psp, and its probably the best place to start for a lonely programmer. But once developers get a hold on things their probably going to move away from the iphone or ipad.
Im gonna make a educated guess and say this had a better marketing campaign then Red Steel 2...

actually 1st pary n64 games sold a lot.
If you noticed a trend the weakest hardware always is more successful
N64 graphically was stronger then the PS1, outcome PS1 was successful,
PS2 was graphically weaker the GameCube and Xbox, outcome PS2 is successful
Wii is graphically weaker then the PS3 and 360, outcome Wii is successful,
DS weaker then PSP, outcome DS successful,
it goes back further, but I'm not sure how far back "gamers" go here...
I got Rage of the Gladiator, Its pretty awesome and very pretty for a WiiWare game

but most wii games look better in motion so I'll hold my judgment,
those Grinder (2009 E3) gameplay videos did look sweet, and HVS said they started working on conduit 2 after 1 so i think the tech behind the game will be good, so they need to focus on finding an art style that suits the conduit.
the Wii DS PSP and PS3 can browse the web, seriously if your paying for online they might as well offer it.
