And this morning Kobra Studios pulled their game from Greenlight. Nothing of value was lost.

And it's running the same tired id tech 3 engine that IW has been using since the original CoD, with more modifications.

Hopefully Skyrim won't be plagued with problems like RAGE was. Barring that, I would definitely say it'll be a contender for GOTY.

No Elder Scrolls game had a demo. I don't expect Skyrim to be any different in that regard.

Had there been an open beta for RAGE, we may not be having this discussion. Proper in-house QA testing prior to release may also have prevented these kinds of showstopper bugs from rearing their heads on release.

While I do agree that plenty of games have had week 1 and week 2 patches, I think on-release major crash issues are much fewer and further between than generic gameplay bugs.

Not as bad as people are making it out to be? I completely disagree.

Technically flawless? Ummm... did they even look at the Bethesda forums for Rage? The PC version is terrible. Crashing, artifacts, flickering textures... this is supposed to be technically flawless?

It'll be run by Redguards. :P

Microsoft gave out their user numbers at E3. 35 million XBL users, taking both Gold and Silver members into account. Steam recently celebrated their own milestone of 35 million users, a 5 million user increase from last year.

The DRM requires an active internet connection every time the game is launched. It's certainly not the one-time activation they previously claimed. RPS caught them retroactively altering/deleting staff posts about it. Whoops.

They knew for MONTHS that their software was obsolete. It may have been some script kiddie hacking the shit out of PSN, but Sony sure did a great job of making it easy to do.

This is what happens when you place litigation as your primary "security" method.

There's nothing to go to court over.

There's no libel, since there's no falsehood in their statements about Famitsu and Konami's relationship. Famitsu had a major COI when reviewing the Konami game. The top guy at Famitsu is shown in an advertisement for MGS, and Famitsu magazine appears in game as well. Kotaku also covered their assets by stating that MGS may very well have deserved the rating.

Kotaku may have lacked a ton of tact by the raging article, but it wasn'...

It wouldn't surprise me if it was. BF2 was one for large scale battles with full vehicle support. I don't see that changing in BF3, and only MAG for the PS3 supports more than 16 player matches. I think the consoles will need to have better back end support before games like Battlefield 3 become more common on the console side.

RPG elements in FPS games have always been a hit or miss affair.

Mass Effect was a major hit in my books. Good story line, strong skill system, decent inventory management, party management, Paragon/Renegade (Good/Evil) system and even ending selection making this game extremely flexible and replayable.

Borderlands feels like a miss to me, however. Even though it had an OK story line (albeit strange), the level cap and limited replay value make the game very boring a...

Playing as the Midnight Riders in the Dark Carnival campaign would be awesome and potentially hilarious.

While I agree that it's really nitpicking to point it out, I also see this as yet another thing IW has done wrong with MW2.

Seriously, the budget they had available to them for this game would put smaller developers out of business. With all that money available to them, how can they make so many errors?

I think I'll start taking notes on what they've done right with the game, since it appears to be a much shorter list.

It's sad, but the VGA's have really been out of touch with the gaming communities for far too long.

Really, there's a few places where their choices were ludicrous. Modern Warfare 2 for best Multiplayer? I guess they didn't read all of the complaints about the multiplayer.

AC2 for best action game? Maybe they never got hit with that critical checkpoint bug...

Most Anticipated Game: God of War 3? That one's going to be a topic of contention all on its own...

An interesting, but poorly worded article, in my opinion. The tone is so negative that I got the feeling that GameDibs considers everyone to be thieves and that anyone making a judgment against DRM is supporting piracy.

I would have gotten the game for multiplayer, had IW not destroyed it already. And I never really cared for the SP campaigns in the CoD series. Too short, in my opinion. And the CoD series was always better for MP than SP anyway. Until now, that is.
