wrong as it's better for the analog sticks to be symmetrical. Make game play better and if it's not broke why fix it.
Warhawk used the accelaration which was also "X" (for those you mainly use R2). Just a slight press and its slow. Harder press and it goes faster.
It can add so much more depth to a game when used properly. Now if you're playing a drving/running/gta game I guess you're either going full speed or not at all, or you'll have to do the whole stop-go thing.
