I'm not trying to convince you. You're choosing to think every critic and every website gets paid by the publisher and even if they don't, they're influenced into giving false scores. Which of course would mean all scores for all major releases would be higher than normal, would be higher than user review averages, and the entire industry would be corrupt. Obviously, every critic had an experience like Gestrmann and obviously, none can be trusted because of these instances....

Well, at least know we know why critics get the hell out of this industry. I'd leave too if I had to face this mass of hatred every day.

I just can't believe gamers are so ignorant as to believe critics are paid by the publisher to review a game.

Consumers are THIS naive? I mean, really?

What are you talking about?

Swiggins: Then you don't get the website. They're not issuing reviews. Not at all. They're simply honoring the critics that deserve recognition they never get from anywhere. Such bodies don't require any names. Does anyone know all the names of the people who determine the nominations and wins for the Oscars? No, and nobody cares, either.

You're right about a critic writing a review. That should have a name. And as far as I can tell, all the critic...

You want "corporate emails and documents" from websites telling their writers to give reviews a lower score? What the hell? Such information would either be relayed verbally or in an email, which I seriously doubt would still exist. And even if it did, these people have zero interest in slandering other sites; they just want to tell you the way things are.

And if any of you had any brains at all, you'd read the incredibly well-researched articles at Polygon t...

Who are all the geniuses claiming the PS4 only has indie exclusives?

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Bloodborne, The Order: 1886, Driveclub, LittleBigPlanet 3, Wild, Hellblade, and what's coming from Quantic Dream (Dark Sorcerer) are "indie?" Since when? What about the new God of War and Gran Turismo that are basically inevitable?

That's not even counting indies. I'll take that list any day of the week and twice on Sunday over the Xbo...

I guess it was fixed not long after the article was submitted.

Anything that gets a 10 is a reviewer who's "paid off?" Oh, that's not insulting at all.

...

It's just so embarrassing to be a gamer these days.

Grown men are intelligent enough to know that reviews consist of both opinion and acquired expertise.

But of course, all gamers alive can be critics, and they all know more than any critic, anyway.

What cracks me up is all the people who swear they'll never buy DLC, never pay for microtransactions, never pay a subscription fee, and yet, the majority of all the profit in this industry is created by those business systems.

So, either everyone is lying through their teeth or Activision's billions are in Monopoly currency. ...I think I'll go with the former.

Oh, and anyone who thinks Destiny will never have a subscription fee just because Activ...

"Most of the people commenting" are clueless?

Clearly, none more than you. Love the Internet geniuses who insult everyone without actually providing any sort of intelligent rebuttal.

The viewpoint that reviews are all opinion?

Sorry, too stupid to reply to.

Oh, you mean the one that was four hours long? That one?

Yeah, wow.

4348d ago 19 agree6 disagreeView comment

Exactly what's wrong with the industry today: The belief that single-player represents a "step back" from multiplayer.

Retarded. Leave it up to Call of Duty developers to think this.

Yeah, I know. I was referring to the other guy.

I'm just assuming this is sarcasm.

Otherwise, you proved the point of the article beyond a shadow of a doubt. Which makes me embarrassed to be a gamer.

Pretty sure the author said he'd give the show a B or a B- and that in fact, the presentation was pretty good.

I think he was just comparing it to some other Sony E3 shows, which I think everyone has to admit had more fireworks.

Just out of curiosity, what sources made those inaccurate statements?

I also have to add that you seem to be infusing one game with a lot of subjective feeling, but that could just be in the way you presented the argument. I would like to see if legitimate sources (GameSpot, IGN, etc.) frequently make the blatant mistakes like a few of the ones you listed.
