my guess is
1) the brand with the least exp would leave the market to avoid consumer confusion and a cause a crash.
2) there would be a spilt between the casual and core market with a whole new console wars.
in all i'm proud sony is listening to their first party devs to get the most out of hardware while making easy to dev for and no doubt if their next console uses blu-ray then it will have BC for ps3 games.

its funny though microsoft fanboys were no where to be found in the PS2 era but here they are bashing the ps3.
truthfully the only thing microsoft has in XBL that sony doesn't have in PSN is integration xgame chat isn't much of something special. Now as for integration we can already see sony pushing for alot more in terms of digital media and content, where i assume psn+ members will benefit. and with hulu plus we should see what sony can do for its users.

actually almost, if not all, the games previewed in 3D, mainly motorstorm and NFS:hot pursuit, have been given high praises for using it so well to change how you view the game and how they use the tech. so no point calling it a gimmick if its working and people invented ebay for a reason -_-
i started with ps2 and i did say i lost myself didn't i? i wasn't looking for "a random reason" i just typed what i thought like how next fen they might just release less of core games and more for the casual, of course when i owned a ps2 i owned it had the core games out shining casual, something we don't see now, and most of nintendo "core" games look like dumbed down core ps2 games with lots of potential, though they still sell.
