as far as online the situation goes,it can be indirectly beneficial.
I'm looking at it from the perspective of the PS3s overall sales situation.

price point. Neo Geo;3DO...... ring a bell).Parents will continue to buy little Johnny a 360 or Wii over a PS3 because of this alone.
I personally see the worth of its price tag,but the mass consumers
do not ....
yet.
own it's own with it's fans and a lot of gamers this generation.....
when the price drops(irrelevant as it may be or seem to some),and that
nice list of games comes rolling along.
Until then,the 360 will dominate.
Possibly,continue to do so till the next system war!

BUT....at this point,the system isn't a must buy YET.
Because of its current price point it will continue to

If you can't afford all three consoles,there's no need to fret.
None of these consoles will be left out in the cold this generation.
Your investment is pretty damn secure on all fronts.
We've all seen consoles in previous generations fail due to poor
marketing;bad timing;lack of software support;etc,etc.
I don't see it happening this time around.
