This whole story is kinda fishy IME - I call Bullshit:

This is just how it was in the Alpha - someone came to the conclusion it will be so in the finished product... why is this news?

I played the Alpha so I got a taste of it... but the Caspian border (presumed to be the Beta map) looks like the real stuff...
