Had to come, kept it up :-D - best joke of the day.
>1. NMH costs $50 not $40
Well I estimated an overall lifetime price, since not all 500.000 copies will be sold at the current RRP
>2. Nintendo will get about $5 - $10 per copy sold, retailers between >$5 and $10 depending on their respective deals. The rest goes to the >developers. I don't know where you got that %10 stuff from.
Based on me following the industry for a long time, readily awailable reserach (try gamesutra and google), I beg to diffe...
Would be interesting to hear her explain the details.
Commenting on the speach she made, I thinks it was pretty smart how she just briefly mentioned that research shows that kids gets more agressive from playing videogames and quickly continued to tie in the the reduction in IQ due to lead posioning and tobacco usage - casual audience will come away remembering: video games makes children more agressive and dumber....nice spin.
As always I personally find it proper to use ...
Lets try a quick guestimated profit calculation.
Assumptions:
(1) Developer gets 10% of street price pr. unit
(2) Staff vages are roughly equivalent US/Europe/JP and would then cost you close to 90-100USD pr. man hour.
(3) Average street price of NMH: 40USD
500.000 copies x 40USB at 10% royalties = M2USD, meaning that you as a studio would have roughly 20.000 man hours at your disposal before you start loosing money and 18.000 man hours to net a he...
>no title on the Wii is crappy
>the innovative controls mean that every game is joy to play
Ahh, ROFL, best laugh of the day :-D - thanks man!
All fine games by any standard except GFX wise - even Halo & Halo 2 are pretty neat shooters still. Also if you'r looking for games for children, the xbox backcatalog clearly overshadows the 360 meager offerings.
Bring on the originals.
>At least somebody said it. The game's plain mediocre adn offers nothing >current gen other than the graphics.
I wouldn't know about that - same thing could be say about just plain every FPS on every platform since Quake2.
>Had it been a PS3 exclusive would have been hammered with 6.5s.
I kind of fail to see what the exclusivity of LO on 360 have to do with it? But you'r basicly saying the LO would be measured to be on-par with the PS3 exclusive Untold Legend...
Looks like a game the son and I'll enjoy playing together - here's hoping for some 2 player support. Judging from the article it also seems the dev'ers have a healthy attitude toward using the wii-mote (as little as possible it would seem :D)
Well put "I like ff7" - well put indeed. Although I'd consider Locoroco and Lumines current-gen, since they're for the PSP?
"Kim said not to expect a lifespan for the Xbox 360 on par with its predecessor, pointing to the strategic benefit of launching a year before a pair of current-gen competitors."
That would be earlier than autumn 2010, say they give it a 4-4½ year lifespan perhaps late 2009 ealy 2010. So basicly any 360 bought now has under 2 years life expectancy - in more than one way :-D.
That's quite the new stance from Microsoft on this:
Argument makes no sense, same problem that Microsoft faced back when launching the xbox1 - what more "red ocean" can any business plan be?...

While CVG found negligle differences, quoting the aformentioned CVG article:
"After installation, we timed DMC4's load times to be only one or two seconds shy of those in the 360 counterpart."
I wonder, what's up?
"Sega to launch Dreamcast 2 this September" ROFLLLLLLLLLLLL
I'm currently 10 hours into the game - so far:
Fantastic game - acceptable gfx, great score, detailed and well crafted both worlds and characther models. Story does unfold a bit slow during the first disc but picks up nicely with characters solidifying after 5-8 hours gameplay. Korean version load-times isn't that bad, I hasn't noticed significant framerate issues. Story and themes are quite an upgrade on Blue Dragon, while maintaining the Blue Dragon combat/skill mechanics and...
PSP version of Manhunt 2 can be modified to remove the execution filters that allowed a re-rating from AO to M - ROFL there goes another USD1M for Layers and another wad of dough for "offended" Manhunt 2 buyers.
:I think this game is better suited as a portable. If you're bored outside you don't care that you need to do repeating tasks such as this game, but on a home system on a HDTV there's better things to do.
Pretty good point IMHO, played Ass. Creed for 2½ hours on my 360, first hour was "OMG this is so good", next hour "OK, nice..kind of been here before", last 30 minutes "zzzZZzzzz". Never booted since, what a waste of time and my money. I'll t...
Perhaps only topped by the DS-lites - mammy mia. Never been able to get any kind of consistent(if at all) diagonal response on either of them.
You wrote:
"All consoles with the exception of the 40GB model include 100% backwards compatibility out of the box."
European backwards compatibility on the 60GB model is anything from 100%. Basicly same deal as the 360, every game needs a specific software based profile to work - several of the titles in my measly ps2 lib dosn't work freedom fighters and Manhunt to name two.

Currently academia and research is non-conclusive as far as I'm concerned - although the different findings does add room to exercise caution on a per child basis.
