I'm sure they have, and if they are having a hard time with disk space, you can bet that's the first place they looked. Unfortuinatley, you can only copress textures so much before they start to look bad.
Thx for the info guys.
"Victoria's family, lead by my 83-year old grandfather in law was able to pick up Lair in less than 5 minutes, fly around with the dragon and play the first mission of the game. That experience right there beats anything that the reviewers can say."
Since when was Lair positioned as a "casual" kinda pickup and play game? I thought it was supposed to be a hardcore PS3 system seller...
I agree on putting a demo out there, because I'd like to do...
And to be honest, if the developer (assuming it's not a fake story) didn't post there saying that space is the reason why, you wouldn't even know the reason it wasn't there.
Makes you wonder what else might be left out of other games without anyone even knowing because they didn't want to come right out and say "it's too small" and have MS get pissed at them for saying it.
I was/am reallying looking forward to this game, and I'm a little disheartened to...
He post said it was that they needed another set of textures for the difference. My guess is that the whether is lighting effects & smaller pieces and that makes it eaiser to get them on the disk.
I checked the board (linked through the story) and it does list "Ben" as a developer with almost 4000 posts, but couldn't check his profile without signing up. YMMV if you have an account there.
So they added someting special in the code, just for this, and then they said they weren't going to do it anymore? Kinda cold if you ask me...
These new videos are available at "retailers", so it sounds like you're going to have to pay to get your RvB fix this time.
Could you tell me where that was debunked? Just asking because it was my impression that with 50gb of space on a bluray .vs 9gb on the dvd of the xbox would allow publishers to create bigger textures with less compression leading to better looking games.
I'm a happy PS3 owner, but Halo3, Mass Effect, and PGR4 look like really good reasons to get one. And I will (once the new hardware's out)
PGR4 = Superbikes doing tricks = Freakin Awesome. No two ways around it.
Sourcing an article from April of 2002 doesn't really support your point. Especially when MS & NBC have a much closer relationship in the form of joint owning an entire freaking news channel.
puh-leaze.
What fact was mis-stated? Sounded dead on to me.
GM tells you UP FRONT, your warranty is 10 years for all 2007 models. The 2006's did not get "extended" the 2007 came with better warranties.
The Xbox came with 1 year or so and because they kept blowing up, they "extended" the warranty. This in effect is the same as a recall, but without calling everyone back to the service center immediatley for replacement parts.
So I can buy one and play this game.
Good advice from the tech guy, but he could have mentioned that they are comming out with the "Falcon" 360 to fix the problems. (That's what I'm waiting for).
I agree that this could affect the parent-factor in game buying. IF a machine breaks on a kid, who has to call for the RMA and deal with shipping? The parent, not the kid. They'll think about that.
The Ratchet demo was on the floor in the AU Sony event the article said.. Can't wait to see it here.
"On a side note, check out our previews for Halo Wars, Mass Effect, and Halo 3. They were my surprise favorites from Microsoft Game Studios."
Halo 3 is a "surprise"? If Halo 3 is a surprise to any game journalist out there, they should be fired and he's lucky they only took the controller away. ;)
At least it said the kids were doing well in foster care. I'm more worried about them than whatever punishment may be leveled at the parents. What got me was the hair matted with cat urine on the little girl. That's above and beyond skipping a meal, it's outright filth. It sounds like they might be young enough to not remember too much of this in later life, but they'll alo have to wonder "where's my real mommy & daddy".
For the parents the minimum I would rec...

After jumping through 2 other sites I finally got to the source article (N4G-Lazygamer-FastSilicon-CRN .AU).
"Microsoft gaming chief Robbie Bach claimed in a conference call with financial analysts that the design issues surfaced recently."
Duh.. Hence the 3 year warranty. I'll wait for 65nm thanks.
He...
Can these game companies not stop stepping on their johnson?
Sony with this reduction/elimination, MS with the "It's not our fault the boxes break", and Nintendo beacause they are ignoring the girl that brought them to the dance (hard core fans) and then going gaga over the "new" girl there. Funny huh?
When will these guys get back to the business of doing business and stop this playground level B.S...?
Waiting for offical word on Falcon.
Right.. It seems to me that this would be a non issue if MS would let them publish games on HD-DVD. Yeah ,"if" you wanted to play the game you'd have to buy the drive, but at least then you would get the full game. (I'm sure the dev woulddn't want to limit it's distribution to HD owners only though, it would shrink their market, but you get the idea.)
If they opened it up, this whole argument could almost become a non-issue.
