About 20 hours in, playing on the Xbox One with no real problems. Hit a little lag on occasion, and pop in once, but that's it. Otherwise the game has been running fairly smoothly for me. I manually save often, so haven't had to worry about being set back too far.
Personally, I thought the controls worked well, though it does take some getting used to using the R1/RB button to jump and then press it again to grab. Same with using weapons/items. But overall I liked the control scheme, though I can understand it won't be to everyone's liking.
It's a good game, just not the epic Bungie hinted at. At least, not yet. Hopefully it will become that down the line. The gunplay is solid, but the missions need variety (my favorite mission was Sword of Crota, since you got to use something other than your gun to complete the mission). The environments are gorgeous to look at, but feel empty. Be nice to initiate conversations with the NPCs at the Tower, which would make the game seem more like a living, vibrant world. Personally, not worried at all. I think a lot is being made of rumor and only partial facts. I had a blast playing the beta, and am looking forward to the full game come September. Was it perfect? No. There are a few things I hope they work on up until release. But it seems like there will be plenty of content at launch, and I'll reserve judgement until I play the full game. I know I'm taking a chance on Destiny, but the beta won me over. Time will tell if I made the right choice. But...
While I think GTA V will probably win many GOTY awards, it really shouldn't. Enormous sales are no reason to give something an award other than for sales-popular does not always equate to excellence that would deserve the top nod. The online may be running a bit smoother now, but its launch was horribly broken and a real mess, hence Rockstar trying to pay off players with large sums of in game money. Yes, it's a large game world, but so it that of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, ...
Haven't played the Deadpool game yet. The Wolverine game was great on the PS3 but sucked on the PS2, as they were two different versions of the game (The PS3 version was rated M and the PS2 version rated T. Watering it down to get the T rating really hurt the game.) Ultimate Alliance was terrific, but I thought LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was actually a bit better. The top two choices in the list are right where they belong. Darkness II could have made this list as well.
So many things to love about this game. The variety of quests, the combat, decisions which have consequences, the characters, and one of the best game worlds ever to get lost in. A fantastic achievement by CD Projekt Red. So far my leading contender for this year's GOTY.
