All of the spin and excuses by the pr guru's on here aside, the game had a budget of 60 million dollars, so simple mathematics dictate that the game needs to sell in order to recoup this money.
Sales are the most important factor in the whole gaming community no matter how you try and deny this, more sales equated to better chances of sequels, new games etc been released on that console.

People have this obsession about graphics and although in cases they help, its not the be all and end all, uncharted for example, visually brilliant but let down in the shallow, repetitive and easy gameplay.
You only have to look on live or psn to see games that are rudimentary basic yet addictive and brilliant

Nintendo have had 5 consoles and 4 hand helds
