We also are in a bubble. What we read, see and hear on sites that are published on N4G, Reddit, wherever, are not indicative of gaming in general. People play the games they like and will look at something that creates buzz (like Helldivers) or is built upon a steady IP (like Mario).
The people, like us, who interact online and engage in conversations represent a small, very vocal minority of players.
"Pre-production began in 2018, and at peak earlier this year there were 264 developers working directly on the project, with an additional 116 contributing in the form of managers, IT staff, and other support roles. 314 minutes of cinematics alone cost over $40 million. The final cost was roughly $30 million over the original $270 million budget,"
All of this according to an internal presentation that includes the costs of "managers, IT, and support staff&quo...
You got receipts for that massive number?
No publisher has released the cost of a game since the 1980s.
I doubt anyone in the internet has the receipts. More like made up nonsense just to win arguments.
There is nothing about supply and demand in today's globalist economy.
Remember, during the pandemic when supply and demand had oil at -30 dollars a barrel? That minus sign is not a typo.
Funny how the price of gas never dropped.
Nintendo leadership took paycuts so their employees wouldn't lose jobs.
Exactly. And never forget that From Software is hiring and Nintendo didn't lay anyone off, their management took pay cuts instead.
I'm lining up to buy Switch 2.
The only delusional one here is you.
"Diversity hires"🙄
It's greed.
EA's CEO earned enough money last year to employ 15 people at 100k plus benefits for a decade. A DECADE. All to pay 1 person for 1 year.
The only sales chart I've seen was the UK one celebrating Helldivers 2 debuting at number 7 and S&B at number 4.
😢 😭 people are playing a game I hate and having fun. Why aren't they hating the game as much as I do?
EA CEO Wilson's total compensation was 20 million. Let's take away 19 million (I'm sure he can survive on 1 million.... somehow).
1 million is the salary of an in the chair developer @100,000 for 10 years.
He could earn 1 million a year.
And save the jobs of 15 in the chair devs for A DECADE (plus benefits) with ONE YEAR'S compensation.
@just_looken
UPS is a different story altogether.
They are paying the people doing the actual work/ earning the money more and eliminating management.

Funny how all the clickhate was trying to spin that it was "struggling" to reach these very numbers.
Loves puts
It's quite the opposite.
It is continuously proven that piracy of digital goods often results in purchases of those goods. These studies go back decades from reputable sources.
However, because it's Nintendo and they aren't laying off employees, I'd really like it if there was no piracy aimed at them.
"The Insomniac layoffs was especially surprising because they were the one studio getting product out."
No good deed goes unpunished.
It's anything though about a game that gets hate.
For example: the Order 1886. Length was suddenly a major sticking point and was bandied about how horrible the game must be.
So MTs, GaAs, DRM are all on Helldivers 2. It's a fun game. It launched terribly. It has bugs (and not the kind you kill) Somehow that's a 9/10.
Other GaAs, MTs, DRM, games that are fun with solid launches (with more players) get utter hate.
...
Twilight zone.
Without employees there's no profit. Wow. If only a few of you had passed high school econ class and English rhetoric then you'd know that ad hominem, red herrings are fallacies used when someone doesn't have an argument.
MrN. Not for profit capitalism exists. I have np problem with profit at all costs capitalism dying.
Returnal: such a great game that got some weird misinformation in the press. Like, if you don't know why lie?
