Pretty arrogant to assume the Wii only appeals to kids, women, and old people. Unless by old people you're referring to people who have crossed out of their teens...
Either way you have no foundation for argument. I've seen plenty of people who would fall into the all-important "hardcore gamer" category really enjoy the Wii.
Is that picture of your wife? She's quite the lucky girl to have you posting her like that. Or is it someone else? Again, she's gotta be lucky to have you.
(oops, hit reply too early) I also think it's funny that you dismiss the innovation argument saying innovation is unimportant rather than posting a valid argument.
Please stop insulting me and anyone else who is different from yourself.
I'll make this brief since you're not addressing any arguments that I post - the Wii focuses on different things than the other two - things that you don't find valuable and that's fine. It's not just the motion controls. Read my post and try to address something if you want to reply.
Well I'm just glad you're not gullible enough to buy into any marketing propaganda (unless of course it comes from a system you approve of).
Again, I like all systems and become less tolerant of those who refuse to "live and let live." Please enlighten me as to why the other systems are innovative.
Online development - I agree. This is somewhat innovative (though an obvious move from last generation). All three systems have it though.

@pooper
I happen to love all three consoles. They all have their pros and cons. The PS3 is awesome for it's blu-ray abilities and it's getting some great games. The 360 has a great library and a great online system. The Wii is innovative (if you think that the only thing that entitles a system to be innovative is processor speed and number of cores, bus bandwidth, and memory, oh, and how many pixels you're putting on the screen, don't bother to finish reading this comment) ...
I think you were right to bash someone so hard for not knowing about a video game.
Remember that it's summer and consider another hobby besides your holy quest to uphold your favorite console.
Rute, you missed the point. He's certainly not saying that Nintendo has 1st person shooters online. He's pointing out how Nintendo's online strategy is different. When you think online and XBox at the same time, what do you think of? Probably 1st person shooters - which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
The point is that Nintendo and online is not the same as XBox and online or PS3 and online.
I've been waiting for Mario Brothers 3 since I got a Wii. This one is my favorite...
Agreed that this kid made the choice to kill. It was his fault. He made the choice to become a killer. The question here is whether or not Manhunt was in any part a vehicle for him to get there. His parents, whether good or bad, can't be fully blamed either, though the question should be raised about whether they negatively influenced their son. Are you saying that his parents should be questioned, but the "parent" that apparently raised him every night alone in his bedroom sho...
If there is a small percentage of kids that are affected more by video games than you or I, say 1 in 1,000,000, would this article have validity? I don't necessarily agree with the article but I don't know enough to disagree with it either. Sure games and movies don't make me want to go out and kill someone, but that doesn't mean that someone that might otherwise refrain from going to the extreme of killing another might be negatively affected by movies or video games.
And if...
This is a refreshing read that uses more to rate next-gen consoles than horsepower and "hardcore" games. I agree with the assessment on why Nintendo is doing well and Sony is having difficulty.
There's definitely a difference between war-time defense of country and murder. Not the same at all.
Are you actually passing judgement on single parent families? Wow. That's a very offensive thought process and you'd do well to think it through another way. "Who's fault is it that they're single?" Be really careful there unless you know more about it than the family that has undergone the tragedy (death, divorce, abuse, etc, etc, there are many causes).
And why shouldn't people blame the price tag? Seems pretty simple to me - if it's too much for you, you're ...
If you change the things about the Wii stated in this article, I think the popularity would go way down. Nintendo didn't make it HD because it wasn't cost effective to do so. Increasing the internal memory would also increase the cost. The idea with the Wii was to create a console that appealed to a larger demographic using hardware that would be profitable this generation. The article indicates how the Wii could be changed to appeal more to the relatively small demographic that isn't as ...
The system attach rate for the Wii is actually really high. Don't make the mistake of assuming that if it doesn't appeal to the "hardcore" gamers (you have your own definition I'm sure), it doesn't appeal at all. "Great games" to you may not be everyone's favorite. Many of the games released for the Wii are selling like crazy. There are always a few of them in the top ten (more than a few in Japan).
And I'd be interested in hearing what it takes to be ...
How about the fact that the Wii is selling more worldwide than the Xbox 360 and the PS3 combined, and that the DS is outselling all three combined? It's funny that most of you are focusing on the 40k gap between the "big players" and ignoring the greater than 100k gap between the Xbox 360 and Wii, then talking about how Sony fans are making excuses. My bet is that I'll get a few replies loaded with excuses like "the Wii isn't next gen" or "of course it's selling mor...
It might be nice to be able to reply to a reply...
You were "so mad" because you wanted to check for an update and your brother was using the TV? You may want to sit down and consider why you decide to get angry over something like that. Who cares if he likes playing the same old thing? Why are you looking for an update for MotoStorm? Probably because you want to play it again. Kids like to play stuff they're good at and they'll play again and again. The reason ...
Good article. There are different groups of gamers and that is often ignored. There are actually many more types of gamers than the four listed as I don't quite fit any of them...
CyberSentinel,
I'm not sure there's much honor in standing by something negative you said. Now if you were defending a hopeless innocent, maybe. But here, I don't see it.
