I never got into the Ratchet and Clank series on the PS2(regretfully). My first experience was Future tools of destruction, and I loved it. I thought the whole idea on a franchise was about the story and character development. As a fan, I hate for a franchise, such R&C, to stray to far from what brought me in, in the first place. I just can not for the life of me figure out this obsession of more, more, more. Sometimes more, just means that...MORE. Doesn't mean its any better. Hell, it co...
What are they going to do? Make the system with all the latest tech, just so they can produce real 1080P output? They could throw in a stronger cpu, gpu, load the thing with ram, make a HDD standard, and go with a larger storage medium. But really, just in an effort to edge out the PS3 in full 1080P graphics. How they going to do that without making the price comparible to the PS3's 299.99(and even cheaper by the time the next xbox comes out). There's no point going to a higher res than 1080P...
...except for nintendo. The tech in the WII was already dated when it was released. I highly doubt it'll be on the market for ten years. When is the WII-HD going to be released? How is that going to be priced against the PS3 or the 360. How many casual WII gamers now have the gaming bug? Are they now looking to move up in the world of gaming? These are the things that are being overlooked, by most people. I simply think the Wii doesn't have the legs to carry itself that far. Sony, with all th...
I don't blame the 360, or the 3rd party devs for holding back the quality of multi-plats on the PS3. It's the dev tools, or more accurately, the middleware game engines that these devs are using. Let's use some common sense here. what's the most common games engine used to date? Unreal Engine 3? I would say, hell yeah. Would all of you agree with me if I said, UE3 was mainly designed to run on PC/360(because their architecture is the same), and plays to their strengths? Now, I know the engine...
I remeber the one of the devs saying, they figured a way to include hi-res tectures in their game, after Killzone 2 went gold. I think that alone, plus a new optimized game engine, is going to blow us out of the water!
Hey, I work for chevalier inc. Chevalier chrysler in Aurora, Ontario, actually. Just wanted to say hi!
There is no way games between the two systems are ever going to be equal, not without two completely different engines running the games.
the 360's processor is ppe heavy. It's a task master, it does what you tell it to do and direct info to other resources if need be. It's terrible at doing floating point calculations, just slows it right down. Now, you could say that's irrelevant, because the 360 has 3 ppe's and each has it own v-chip simular to the PS3's spe's. the difference is it'...
But, I think what most of you are missing, is the middleware, game engines, that these 3rd party devs are using. What's the most popular engine to date that is used by third parties? Unreal 3? Wasn't that engine developed with the pc and 360 in mind, and the PS3 as an afterthought? Sure, they may have tweaked it to run alright on the PS3, but it was never design to utilise all of it's assets. The other thing I heard about UE3 is, it,s a closed format to 3rd parties(meaning you can't optimise ...
You know all this does is reflect poorly on us all as a gaming society. There is nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion( it's all our right), but bickering and finger pointing is useless. There is no denying there are fanboys, on all sides. It's this fraction of gamers that makes us all look bad, as a gaming community.
Yes, I've noticed this trend, of FUD reviews to lower the average game scores. Yes, I think this article is more fuel to the flame war. And to differ from som...
I've been gaming for months with my girlfriend, and it's been a great way for us to spend time together, at a low cost. At first, when I told her I was a gamer, she sighed and rolled her eyes at me. But one night, when we couldn't find a movie worth renting, she noticed Heavenly Sword. She has never looked back since. I had to laugh yesterday, because I had picked up DeadSpace, and she had started playing it before I even had a chance to sit down. I can also remember the smile on her face, wh...
...is all this bickering, of unfulfilled promises, on a product that isn't yet 1/5 through it's lifecycle. Peter Moore may end up correct, about the PS3, but I think he's presumptious to make these claims before everything is said and done. Sometimes it's benificial to step back and take a look at each companies objectives, and strategies, to find the truth.
Now, what I have to say is up for debate. Some is based on fact, and some is solely base on my personal opinion. Sony came i...
...but, I don't think Sony is going to make a price cut just yet. Maybe closer to the christmas shopping season. At their current price, the PS3's still selling quite well, and even outsold the 360 in the U.S. for the month of july. Sony's gaming division is just getting back to being profitable, and they probably don't feel any real push to lower their prices just yet. I still think, if it's going to happen in '08, it will be around christmas, and Sony won't anounce anything until TGS. I gue...
... but I thought Sony adressed this with a firmware update, early last year. And, this Ars technica article that is being refered to, is almost 1 and a half years old, and most certainly outdated. I have personally used my PS3 on a five year old sony projection, and a 5-6 year old sony CRT XBR, and have not had a problem scaling my PS3 to those sets. But, for the most part it is usually connected to my 50"
1080p samsung DLP set in my bedroom. The only issue is, it will not automa...
I personally didn't think the game was all that bad. The control scheme with the sixaxis was quite enjoyable, but, is very reliant on the fact that the motion sensor in the controller is working properly. I thought the game as a whole, felt alittle rushed and unfinished.
I really appreciate your candor/straight forward answer. You really hit the nail on the head. People should buy a console based on their wants and needs, not on the basis that it's popular or cool(that's just so highschoolish).
That was was simplely the single best post I can remember reading on this site.
Count me in on the bubbles train.
Now, all joking aside. I do agree virus, a lot of people are treating this site as one giant pissing match. There are also a few that do treat this site, and their fellow poster with do respect. I myself am a strong PS3 supporter, and understand and appreciate the inherent value of the other systems. The WII is a great party/starter system, and I find it hard to beleive that their owners won't move on as their gaming skills/desires advance. The 360, while riddled with hardware issues, has pro...
I've been commenting on the previous posting of Pachters sales projections. This news post indicates that Pachter beleives that both the PS3 and 360 should have equal install bases by years end. This is just getting way out of hand. I do beleive this analysist is closer to what will truely transpire though.
Thanks for the backing info.
Bubbles up for you, Thanx
I was on my second playthrough the other night. I was traversing through the ice caverns, and decided to take a break for a snack. Now, I didn't bother pausing the game, drake was on a ledge, so I could soak in the beautiful atmosphere. So, there I was, snacking and watching plumes of steam coming from drakes mouth, as he huffed and puffed. Now, your probably sitting there reading this and saying, so what, I've seen that done many times before. And so have I, but not to the extent naughty dog...
