Hindsight being 20/20, I think one of the best things that could have happened to the Gaming Industry, from a competitive standpoint, is Sony botching their PS3 launch. Think about it, If they hadn't botched that launch, the Xbox Brand never would have become relevant. Playstation would have just steamrolled the entire competition like it did in the PS2 generation. No competition leads a console market almost monopolized by Sony.

Don't get it twisted, the main reason the 360 had such a huge lead in sales was because of the RROD. Gamers were basically buying multiple 360s a year. That inflated the 360 sales.
And the main reason the PS3 was able to not only catch up in sales but surpass the 360 was because of EXLCUSIVES. Oh and also PlayStation owned the world. It was winning World Wide sales, regardless of US sales.
